Project Drama [Part 36]

Project Drama [Part 36]

Recap: It wasn’t time.

Katelyn’s P.O.V

Thump. I ignored it. Thump. Thump. I turned around shifting my eyes to the windowpane. I saw Pete’s dark eyes in the dark background of the trees and vibrant sunset.

“Katie, come out,” his whisper radiated.

I got up from my desk (browsing on my laptop) to the window and stood their silently looking at him unbearably and then opened the hatch quietly. “Um…Pete, what are you doing here?”

“I want you to come to the Halloween dance.”

His voice tore out a ringing questionnaire in my mind. Then I felt like I didn’t hear him clearly and shook my head. “Why?” I questioned feeling it was obsessive need to.

“Um, no answer…” he scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. “Can you just come, with me?” I looked at him blankly and then shook my head automatically. “Please, Katelyn? We might as well go…”

“I can’t I’m – I’m not aloud.”

“What? Wait why not?” He asked his eyes squinting.

“And anyways, I can’t go to the Masquerade. I just don’t belong there. I haven’t even been to one since grade nine.” I continued. “Anabelle is missing and my parents don’t want me to be missing and you know my mother suddenly just disappeared…they suspect things.” I exclaimed more clearly.

“Please just come with me,” he pleaded. “Haven’t you ever snuck out before?” I didn’t reply. “It’s easy. Just slowly come out of the window.” I sighed. “Come here,” He instructed and I just stood there. “Please?” and his eyelids turned liquid and his face stopped sighing down.

“Yes, ok, ok, fine.” I finally agreed and a smile rose from his face and I couldn’t help but smile back.

He stopped lying down so he could look at me more clearly. “I’m very persuasive as you can see so we’ll do this the other way I didn’t intend to do. How about you go get dressed and I’ll meet you at the doorway.”

“Get dressed? At the main doorway?” he nodded his head leaving me to it. I looked down at my navy-colored jean-ripped shorts and tank top.  “I don’t even have any costumes!”

First instinct: Anabelle. Nope. Second instinct: Beth or *Bethany. Nope. Third instinct: I don’t even have a third instinct.

“Katie, dear, someone’s at the door,” Andrea said almost quietly so she wouldn’t wake up Chris. “You know you’re not aloud to have friends over. So why are you inviting company?” Then I could hear Pete’s persuasive voice twist and I ran into Andrea and Chris’s room (Chris fell asleep in the guest room –it had the most comfortable bed-). I ended up not going as anything just wearing a short cropped black flimsy dress and she had matching black heels to go with it. I didn’t feel too good about going into Anabelle’s room and taking her white mask for the Masquerade because she was planning it for awhile. [http://www.instablogsimages.com/images/2008/02/06/tara-subkoff-black-dress_5965.jpg] [http://www.unitedmask.com/Masks/images/Fancy_white_Masks_VX6150ST.JPG] I was just a little bit mad that it wasn’t a REAL Halloween costume, because I knew for a fact nobody would actually wear a costume. “Katelyn…” And I knew the voice so I was ready to go…I put on last touches and found accessories that I would probably never wear before in Anabelle’s room. I peeked through the corner and I could see a small connection between Andrea and Pete and he saw my eyes peeking and smiled. “You can go out…” she rolled her eyes. I smiled running down the glass staircase.

“Thank you, thank you,” I kissed her forehead grabbing Pete’s hand. He laughed. “That didn’t take very long…you are persuasive.”

“Well, I did get you here,” he chuckled agreeing. “I might say you look very…ravishing?” I giggled. “Sorry I was trying to be a gentleman.” I rolled my eyes with a small smile.

He was literally a dream.

My hand was clasped in his and neither of us bothered to let go. I don’t know how sudden or fast this was but we both seemed to let it go. It all started with a small party I got dragged in to by Anabelle and Andy with a little help from Beth and Gerard after Gerard coaxed her into it and then Rochelle I think made it really happen although I needed to find out answers but she left. “So…is Claire going?” He nodded his face turned into almost a solemn expression but it soothed into a calm sincere one. We were in the car by this time. It was a very nice one but the attractiveness wasn’t concerning me.

“Don’t worry about her. She’s the past. I literally do not know why I dated her. There is nothing to her…you know I just got made into it. She was apart of the Blair-Jessica-Emily thing going on and most of my friends having dated all of them so I was pressured into dating Claire. It was terrible…”

“So why did she break up with you?”

His eyebrows furrowed up and his eyes immediately squinted quickly questioning, “What? What do you mean? I broke up with her.”

“That’s not what she said to everybody. ‘I just couldn’t take his constant jealousness. It was especially cheesy when he kept constantly crying after. He just wouldn’t stop…’” I quoted her.

“I broke up with her…for reasons that are seriously obvious.” I nodded my head and by that time we knew that this conversation was over.

He started with a new topic but it seemed to not come over all the tension in the (I think black or dark grey) car. “I really shouldn’t be going to this thing. I’m not really liked by everybody. Blair, Emily, now Beth and especially Claire…”

Pete chuckled the corners of his lips turning up into a small smirk or grin. “Forget about them…you look beautiful.”

“I know you told me,” I touched his nose giggling he laughed. I remarked, “And you are looking very handsome, Pete.” I giggled again. We pulled up at the Harrison Hotel. “And now were here,” I sighed quietly but he heard it.

“It’ll be fine. If things get bad…we’ll go to Starbucks or stay on the beach away from the drunken teenagers. But you know the beach might be pretty packed.” It was only 6 and people were piling on the beach, mostly boys. We went into the hotel and there was way, way, way more people then on the beach in front of the hotel. I didn’t know who any of the girls were…hence the mask idea. But most revealed when talking to me because I didn’t bother to put mine own…Pete already knew what I was wearing. “I saw Josh outside I’m going to get him and ask where everybody is. I’ll be right back, don’t be so tense.” He smiled and fingers slipped away from me and he took off his jacket part of his outfit and now he just wore navy-colored jeans and a brown shirt on. All the other guys were wearing tuxedos.

Blair’s P.O.V

“She’s here,” Bethany whispered. “She took off her mask and she’s not wearing it.” I nodded my head calmly looking around. “Over there,” Bethany pointed out. I saw her. The long technically frizzy hair and not pretty blue eyes and she were wearing the most grotesque dress ever. Seriously, brown? Shit brown? It went up too high. Her knees seriously…she couldn’t even pull it off. Claire did flawlessly but not her nope not her…she was annoying me so much. Her shoes were seriously two month’s ago Marc Jacobs. Trust me anyone with REAL fashion would know that.

“She should get a better dress if she wants to be someone,” I remarked rudely. Bethany and a low monotone Claire chuckled.

“Oh just ignore Jessica, Blair. Don’t even look at her…” Emm spoke coming from behind a bunch of jocks on the football team celebrating their winning season. Nobody was really into football anymore now that volleyball season was starting which was way bigger in Newport Beach because of all the volleyball netted beaches.

“I’m trying,” my voice struggled. “I need tea…I’ll be right back.”

I got around to all parts of the lobby and they had NO Tea. I ended up yelling to Rayna and Rheagan about it but they understood why I was so mad, really.

Two large hands came and covered over my face and my immediate reaction was a terrified one and I ended up throwing them off of me immediately. I turned around looking at whoever it was fiercely. “Oh hi, Gee, sorry.”

“Ouch,” he winced.

I pecked him lightly on both sides of his cheeks and then on his lips. “Sorry Gee I seem over-paranoid. I thought Jessica had nobody to go with you know since her and Josh got back together. It seems she came along.”

“Well, actually…” I looked at him puzzlingly and I squinted violently. “Josh didn’t break up with her…” My eyes widened and he stopped me before I could react putting his hand on my curly brown hair softening it. “Yes, I know you wanted them badly to break up but I think you just need to let whatever you two are arguing about go. It’s petty and foolish and my little Blair can do better.”

“So then Gee are we getting a hotel room together tonight?” I changed the topic. He scratched the back of his neck awkwardly and mumbled a low, ‘Um…’ I continued, “So I wouldn’t be getting in my business. If you change your mind you can text me!” I walked away angrily pushing through anybody who got in the way until I finally got to someone strong enough to knock me over.

That pushed me over the limit. “Sorry, I am so sorry,” I heard a voice mutter.

I jumped up looking around so no one saw and thank God the music was too loud and I, Blair have finally not caused a big commotion. “SERIOUSLY, YOU CAN REALLY HURT-,”

“Of course it’s you,” he rolled his eyes. Frankie… “You shouldn’t be pushing into people like that! Literally, Blair you are just asking for it!”

“Well, you shouldn’t push people back then! No, I’m having a bad day and it’s Halloween and I don’t need to get bumped into so hardly!”

“You know what I’m happy I pushed into you so hard! You very well deserved it! Seriously, Blair I heard you have a new little toy you can influence to do your own dirty deeds!” Frankie snapped.

I sighed heavily. “You know what you should shut up Bethany isn’t a little toy she was actually a friend…”

“Yeah, so before she was in your little clique she was your friend? I think not. I think she was your own personal homework buddy! You know what I’m not doing anything for the squid project! Nothing…absolutely nothing!” His voice seemed almost violent.

“You know what? YOU SHOULD SHUT UP!” I finally blown up pushing him.

“I should shut up? MAYBE YOU SHOULD SHUT UP!” He pushed me harder.

A hard voice spoke, “Maybe you should both shut up,” and I stood beside Frankie looking up at a huge, muscular Security Guard. He pointed toward the lobby doorway. “Out, now! Both of you!”

“BUT I’M BLAIR VAN-,”

He interjected fiercely, “I DON’T CARE WHO YOU ARE! GET OUT! NOW!”

I sighed quickly walking out through the lobby door and I could hear feet thumping behind me…those annoying little footsteps.

“GOOD GOING IDIOT! YOU KICKED US OUT!” I hollered my voice now louder outside. It was somewhere around 8 now and there was still a bit light the sunset almost gone.

“I GOT US KICKED OUT? YOU’RE THE ONE WHO STARTED THE YELLING!”

I pushed him more, “YEAH RIGHT LIKE I DIDN’T HAVE A REASON NOT TOO!” He rolled his eyes his eyebrows completely furrowed together and his face fire red and his eyes shot daggers. “YOU THINK YOU’RE SO SMART BUT REALLY YOU’RE JUST THIS GAY EMO KID FROM A RICH FAMILY!”

“Yeah, ‘cause you know your richer then me. YOU THINK YOU’RE SO RICH AND POPULAR BUT IN REALITY YOU’RE JUST A COMPLETE SNOB! YOUR PARENTS ARE BASICALLY IN DEBT!”

I stopped. His eyes stopped looking at mine and he looked down abruptly. “Wait, what?” I questioned confused.

“Um, nothing.”

“In debt?”

“Nothing…I wasn’t supposed to slip out. I’m sorry for saying that. It’s not true.” But for some reason I could see the truth in his eyes and I knew for fact he was lying. “I’m sorry. You aren’t a snob…” he said apologetically.  “Really sorry…” he continued trailing off into a deep, worried stare, “You are very popular…way more popular then me in every way. I should envy you.”

I could see in his eyes he was throwing fake words at me. “Tell me, please,” I said almost begging but my face and voice was completely calm, serious and a little bit off guard.

“I am sorry…really,” he spoke promising.

I nodded my head. “Me too, you aren’t emo…that’s just a stupid label. You are smart too…really smart. If I didn’t have you for a Biology partner my life would be over.”

“More,” he smirked.

“Hey, you’re talking to me here that am very nice for somebody like me.” I laughed and he did his chuckle but it wasn’t as weird and light as before. He sat me down on the sand. “Can I…can you…what do you mean?”

He mouthed something but then snapped it shut. “I just nothing…actually I think I should start leaving. I promised my parents I would do this thing. I will um…bye.” He said getting up quickly waving good bye with a worried grin and I couldn’t get anything out by then.

I opened up my cell phone. “Hi, Beth? Yeah, leaving now. Tell Gee I’m not mad at him…just I have to go.” I called a cab quickly after leaving back to my empty house. It would’ve been easier to have my car. But I thought I would be drinking. Well, that didn’t happen, did it?

When I got home I searched around the house. For a clue…
